About
the Event
"Outspoken for 4-H" is an annual fundraising
bicycle ride that supports and promotes West
Virginia 4-H and
West Virginia’s State 4-H Camp at WVU
Jackson’s Mill.
Riders and crew are dedicated 4-H members, leaders, and supporters
demonstrating their love of 4-H by overcoming West Virginia's
beautiful but challenging terrain. Outspoken for 4-H is
a visible way to communicate this message. Each mountaintop the
team crosses serves as a reminder of how integral 4-H is in youth
development, and every village and town the team pass through
allows them to show some of the greatness 4-H offers to West
Virginia youths.
Download the official
application packet and learn how to
participate in Outspoken for 4-H - an exiciting West
Virginia 4-H challenge.
The ride starts at the WVU Jefferson County Extension Office
and ends approximately 250 miles later at WVU Jackson’s
Mill, in time for the opening of the 4-H Older Members Conference
(OMC). Many Outspoken participants will remain at WVU
Jackson’s Mill as campers and counselors for the week of
OMC. Read
more about the 2006 event.
Outspoken for 4-H is completely organized by 4-H volunteers
and Extension employees. An event of this scale wouldn't
be possible without the help of many volunteers and local citizen
supporters along the route. Supporters are encouraged to check
the route and schedule to know
when the team will be in your area. Riders love to see 4-Hers
along the route and motivational signs are always welcome.
Over seven million youths across the nation participate in 4-H.
For more than 100 years, 4-H has helped youths learn about themselves
and prepare for their futures. The strength and continuity of
4-H requires community support from 4-H volunteers and friends
like you.
Demonstrate that you too are "Outspoken for
4-H" by supporting West Virginia 4-H with a tax-deductible
contribution. The official pledge support form is available from
the WVU Extension Service
Office of Development.
Thank
you for supporting West Virginia 4-H and watch for the Outspoken
for 4-H bicycle team as they ride across West Virginia.
