For nearly 27 years, Judy Matlick has been a Family and Consumer Sciences educator with the WVU Extension Service in Jefferson County and the tri-county area.

Matlick began her career as a program assistant in Jefferson County and became an Extension Agent in 1978 when an additional position was funded. During those years Extension's Family and Consumer Sciences programs have constantly changed to keep up-to-date. Cooking schools are now cooking schools for a person with diabetes and food safety programs provide opportunities for food service employees to gain food safety certification.

Judy works primarily in programs related to volunteer leadership development, food safety, chronic disease risk prevention, family resource management, parenting and child care. WVU Extension Service has a long history of close collaboration with the Community Education Outreach Service (CEOS). She has worked closely with CEOS (formerly known as Extension Homemakers) in Jefferson County and at times with CEOS members in their eight-county region.

Judy Matlick, M.A., CFCS holds certification in Family and Consumer Sciences from the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Shepherd College, her Masters of Arts from West Virginia University and currently holds the rank of WVU Extension Associate Professor.
